These savory rolls are twisted and brushed with a flavorful garlic butter. They're great as an appetizer or side.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 1 cup warm water (around 105-115°F or 40-46°C)
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Garlic Butter:
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add Remaining Dough Ingredients: Stir in the flour, salt, and olive oil until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the dough in a 1 lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. Shape the Knots: Gently punch down the risen dough. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 8-10 inches long. Tie each rope into a knot.
- Second Rise: Arrange the knots on a greased baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let them rise in a warm place for 20-30 minutes.
- Prepare Garlic Butter: While the knots are rising, melt the butter in a small saucepan. Stir in the minced garlic, parsley, and salt.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the knots for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Brush with Garlic Butter: Immediately after removing the knots from the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter. Serve warm.
